On the Fourth, we roasted hot dogs around the fire pit and made s'mores. Can't ask for much more than that!
I love this pic of the kiddos, freshly bathed and in their PJs, lighting sparklers.
One of the highlights of the trip for Princess A was riding a "big" horse for the first time. She has ridden Grandma's ponies lots of times, but this was the first time she got to ride an actual horse. She was in heaven!
As great as our time in Pennsylvania was, the drive is awfully long! We listen to a lot of music, but Deedle's favorite is Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up." For some reason, he always closes his eyes when he listens to that particular song. It's really funny to watch.
We were making pretty good time on the trip back (with, of course, several stops for bathroom trips and snack replenishment), but we got held up at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge for what seemed like an eternity. The picture above shows how Deedle and I felt about the crappy traffic.
As much as I enjoyed our time in Pennsylvania, it feels good to be back home. Now, I'm going to pour myself a glass of Pinot, light one of my sister-in-law's Twisted Melon tarts, and catch up on some of my Bravo shows.
