We had been in Pennsylvania less than a day, and Deedle was already down in the "crick," looking for crayfish.
Princess A discovered that she loved four-wheeling! With the exception of one small bump in the road (read: minor crash), she did a great job, and it kept her occupied and away from her brother!
Not to be outdone by his sister, Deedle insisted on learning how to drive the four-wheeler, too. He didn't get to drive by himself, though (sorry, I'm just not that brave!). Check out all the mosquito bites on his forehead!
KShaf, however, was clearly feeling braver than I was. He helped Deedle light off bottle rockets on the Fourth of July.
After spending a week in Pennsylvania, we decided that, since we were already so close, we would take a day trip to Niagara Falls. KShaf's family only lives about two hours from the New York side of the Falls, and I've always wanted to see them. I was not disappointed!
This was the view from the State Park side of the Falls.
Have you ever?? This was the view from the Maid of the Mist (it was worth the money, believe me!).
We got SOAKED! The kids loved it! (OK, fine. I did, too.)
The kids, taking one last look at the Falls before we started the long drive from New York back to Maryland. Nine hours later (and more bathroom and food breaks than I can count), we were back home on the Shore.
And what did Deedle find as soon as we got home?
This little guy, stuck in our window well! We did our research, and it looks like she's an Eastern Mud Turtle. We decided to keep her, and thanks to KShaf, she is living in the Taj Mahal of turtle tanks. Deedle decided to name her Torcle (don't ask), and we're all enjoying watching her explore her new home.
Now, on to the GIVEAWAY! I'm taking a chance here, friends, and I'm a little nervous. I know my little blog doesn't have a huge following, but I'd really like to change that! So, I'd like to give away my Pink and Black Chevron Teacher Binder. As any of my students can tell you, I'm obsessed with both black and white chevron and hot pink, so creating this Teacher Binder was a no-brainer! All files are totally editable, too!
